Emma Bridgewater is definitely one of my favourite modern pottery designers and also part responsible for the Staffordshire potteries revival with many iconic designs that have been reproduced by rivals and by the Bridgewater potteries in recent times.
This is a gorgeous single egg coddler made for The National Trust and is in a becomingly rarer colour way to find; usually in a classic silver/white and black, this coddler is brown/fawn and black! A classic miniature of the traditional hen-on-nest egg basket and I love to collect the full size ones as the variety and designs are endless. It is also rare to find these small single egg coddlers, made by Emma Bridgewater for the National Trust and especially in such excellent, seemingly unused condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Beautifully made and beautifully painted.
Clearly backstamped on the underside with the “The National Trust”, “Emma Bridgewater” and the paintress mark and measuring a cute 9.5cm high by 8.5cm wide.
A perfect opportunity to add a rare piece of Emma Bridgewater to any Bridgewater or Staffordshire pottery collection!
