Description

Rare and Antique 1430-1480 A.D. Vietnamese Hoi An Hoard Overglaze Saucer No.160538

Nothing better than an antique that tells a story.

This fabulous artefact was recovered from a Vietnamese cargo vessel that was discovered in the 1999 off the coast of Hoi An in Vietnam.  Experts have dated this find as between 1430 and 1480 A.D., which places this within the Ming Dynasty period.

With a lovely simply design with faded red lines and green glaze spots, this saucer measures approximately 12.5cm in diameter and 3cm high, this saucer is in great condition for its age with no cracks or restoration (just a tiny chip to the rim – bearing in mind its over 500 years old and survived the harsh conditions of the ocean!!!).  It does have some dirt and evidence that its been submerged in the sea with small calcium deposits here and there.

This saucer comes with laminated Certificate of Authenticity and all the original authenticity labels from Saga and Visal and Butterfields Auction House in San Francisco. This one is numbered No.160538.

A great piece of history and an exciting talking piece!
